Brief Intervention

Brief interventions are designed to reduce immediate suicide risk by offering safer alternatives during moments of crisis. When someone is overwhelmed, their thinking often becomes rigid, and this is not the ideal time for problem-solving or searching for long-term solutions.

These interventions support individuals in preparing simple, practical safety strategies in advance, such as reaching out to a trusted person or using coping techniques that help them get through intense emotional distress. A family member or friend may be included in the safety planning process when appropriate.

⚠️ Important Notice: Brief interventions are intended as short-term support. If you are not a trained professional, please do not attempt to apply or guide these interventions on your own. Incorrect use may increase risk or emotional harm.

For safe guidance and personalised support, we strongly recommend working with a qualified mental health professional. You can connect with licensed psychologists in Vietnam here:

With the support of trained therapists, individuals can develop appropriate coping plans and navigate their crisis with safety and hope.

Therapies

While brief interventions provide immediate safety, therapeutic treatment offers deeper, long-term support for emotional wellbeing. Evidence-based therapies help individuals address underlying difficulties such as negative thinking patterns, emotional regulation, relationship issues, substance use, or life challenges that contribute to suicidal distress.

Therapy involves working with a trained professional to explore personal struggles, build coping skills, and move toward a life filled with meaning and hope. Methods may include structured assessments, talk therapy, behaviour-focused approaches, or collaborative treatment planning.

⚠️ Important Notice: Therapy should never be attempted or guided by someone without professional training. Self-treatment or unqualified support can unintentionally increase risk or emotional harm. Always seek guidance from certified clinicians.
